Inlight believes in using cruelty free beauty products for their 100% organic skin care line. With a philosophy of holistic living, using beauty products that are not tested on animals is the only option that fits for a company like Inlight. You may not have spent time thinking about how your beauty products are tested, but we invite you to consider about what being cruelty free means for our global good.
Living a holistic life means embracing the idea that we are all interconnected- humans, animals, nature-we are all part of one big lovingly connected being. If we live a holistic life, we strive to care for our planet and all of its creatures with love and respect. By definition, that includes rejecting the use of animals for product testing.
Many beauty products, household products and pharmaceuticals are tested on small animals like mice, rats, bunnies, guinea pigs and hamsters. Some products are even tested on chimpanzees, cats, and dogs. These animals are subjected to physical restraint, forced feeding and inhalation, food and water deprivation, pain and confined living spaces. The cosmetic industry does not test on chimps, dogs or cats, but the smaller animals are subjected to great pain and even death. This behavior does not fit with the concept of holistic living at all.
Some parts of the world, like India and the U.K., have laws against the sale of cosmetics that are tested on animals. In fact, the E.U. banned these sales in 2013. Unfortunately, not everywhere has the same restrictions. In fact, in China there is a law that DEMANDS cosmetics be tested on animals before being sold to humans. This means that imported products that aren’t tested on animals when they are manufactured still go through that testing if they are sold in China.
The U.S. does not have a law mandating animal testing, like China. However, there are no U.S. laws prohibiting it either. As a consumer, it’s your personal responsibility to research the companies you buy products from to make sure they truly are cruelty free. Inlight has never tested any of their products on animals- and never will. You can find out more about cruelty-free skin care in this article.
Dr. Spiezia has this to say about Inlight’s commitment to staying cruelty free, “I am passionate about this beautiful planet we inhabit and believe that we are all indebted to it. Animals are part of this world, and no less important than we are, so to harm them in the pursuit of our own ends simply makes no sense.”
BUAV, (the British Union for the Abolishment of Vivisection) has awarded Inlight the coveted “Leaping Bunny”. BUAV, now known as Cruelty Free International, is an organization dedicated to peaceful campaigning to prevent experiments on animals for our benefit. They lobby politically to get laws changed, investigate undercover to find the truth and actively promote cruelty free products. Cruelty Free International is proud of its history of saving animals lives for over 100 years. Dr. Spiezia is honored by this award and is dedicated to keeping Inlight not only 100% organic, but also cruelty free permanently.
